🧠 School Psychology at Beattie Elementary

Beattie Elementary is fortunate to have the expertise of Lara Lauritz, our school psychologist. She plays a pivotal role in supporting students' academic, social–emotional, and behavioral success within our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework.


🎯 What a School Psychologist Does

A school psychologist is a trained mental health and educational professional who works collaboratively with students, educators, and families to:

  • Perform assessments to understand learning, behavior, or emotional needs
  • Create data-informed, strengths-based support plans
  • Provide small-group or individual counseling and crisis intervention
  • Support early behavior intervention and system-level improvements

🔄 MTSS-Aligned Supports

Tier 1: Universal Preventive Services

  • Collaborates on school-wide social-emotional learning and positive behavior frameworks
  • Provides training to staff in strategies for building resilient, inclusive classrooms

Tier 2: Targeted Interventions

  • Facilitates small-group support to develop social skills, problem-solving, and emotion regulation

Tier 3: Intensive Individualized Support

  • Conducts formal assessments for academic or behavioral concerns
  • Develops behavior intervention plans and IEP goals
  • Offers direct counseling and collaborates in crisis response
