Gifted/Talented

🌟 Gifted & Talented at Beattie Elementary

At Beattie, we nurture the unique strengths of all learners through our MTSS-aligned Model, ensuring advanced learners thrive within their daily classroom setting and through specialized support.

🚀 Classroom Differentiation - Tier 1

All students benefit from co-taught classrooms where teachers use MTSS principles to deliver differentiated instruction. This includes enriched content, flexible grouping, and targeted strategies to challenge learners at every level—without pulling them out of their typical learning environment.

🎯 Identifying Gifted Learners

PSD identifies gifted learners via multiple pathways: district-wide screening (grades 3–8), referrals, or previous GT designation. Once identified, every gifted student receives an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) covering both academic and affective goals—documenting strengths, interests, and measurable growth targets.

🧠 Targeted Enrichment: Tier 2 & 3

Thursday Innovation Station
Gifted learners who need additional challenge convene with Mrs. Sisnroy in the Innovation Station each Thursday. Here, they engage in creative problem-solving, design thinking, and passion-driven projects tailored to their ALP.

“What I Need” (WIN) Block
From grades 3–5, identified students work with Ms. Cherie during WIN time to deepen learning. They explore advanced topics, collaborate with peers, and build executive functioning skills—all aligned with their ALP objectives.

📈 Goals & Impact

  • Deliver challenging and engaging experiences, both whole-class and in small groups
  • Provide personalized support according to each learner’s strengths and pacing needs
  • Enable students to take ownership of learning through self-driven inquiry
  • Document progress via ALPs, ensuring both academic and emotional growth are measured and celebrated

Why This Matters

Our MTSS approach creates a tiered support system:

Tier Setting Support
1 Classroom Differentiation and enriched curriculum
2 Innovation Station Small-group, creative problem-solving
3 WIN with Ms. Cherie Individualized acceleration and skill development

This ensures genuine challenge without stigma—each student is supported to climb higher, aligned with their strengths and goals.
