Book Fair Committee

📚 Join the Book Fair Committee!

The Scholastic Book Fair is one of the most anticipated events of the year at Beattie Elementary. It fuels our library, inspires readers, and brings our community together—but making it magic takes thoughtful planning and enthusiastic volunteers.

Why It Matters

  • Ignites a love of reading: Students thrive when they can choose books that excite them, boosting literacy engagement and lifelong reading habits.
  • Supports our school library: A minimum of 25–50% of sales returns as Scholastic Dollars or cash for library materials and classroom resources.
  • Builds community: It’s a shared celebration—teachers, families, and staff come together to create a vibrant culture around books and learning.

Join Our Team!

We host two Book Fairs each year—Fall and Spring—and need help before, during, and after the event. Roles include:

  • Co-Chair/Coordinator: Lead planning, collaborate with Scholastic, and ensure smooth setup & breakdown
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer shifts
  • Social Media & Newsletter Support: Promote Fair dates, themes, and special events
  • Advertising & Decor Team: Create posters, themes, and transform the library into a reading wonderland
  • Cashiers & Checkout Assistants: Manage POS systems and help shoppers at the register
  • Setup & Breakdown Crew: Unpack, set up displays, and pack everything up post-event
  • Special Event Planners: Organize Family Night and Grandparents Day for extra celebration
  • Shopper Helpers: Assist students with wish lists and book selections
  • Money Counters & Financial Reporting: Tally sales, distribute Scholastic dollars, and complete financial summaries
