Academic Support

🎯 Striving to Succeed: Academic Support at Beattie Elementary

At Beattie, we embrace differentiated instruction to ensure every student not only meets but exceeds their potential—academically, socially, and emotionally.

🧩 Program Overview

  • Supports students in Grades K–5 with moderate to mild academic needs.
  • Small-group learning, typically around 6 students per group, allows for personalized instructional time.
  • Children receive targeted support in core academics, then return to their classrooms for enrichment experiences.

🎓 What We Value

  1. Strength-Based Growth
    — We help students build on areas where they shine—including music, art, sports, or peer mentoring.
  2. Strategic Instruction
    — Educators teach learning strategies, scaffolding, and systems to empower students and foster confidence through success.
  3. Smooth Transitions
    — Starting with small goals and group sizes ensures each learner feels supported as they rejoin full-class instruction.

🥅 Our Goals

  • Foster high expectations and academic motivation in a warm, enjoyable environment.
  • Help students make measurable, meaningful gains each year—tracked through IEPs, standardized assessments, and curriculum-based metrics homes.com+8bea.psdschools.org+8wer.psdschools.org+8.
  • Build confidence, self-awareness, and ownership so students set and reach personal learning goals.

📋 How We Measure Progress

Progress is carefully monitored through:

Metric Description
Standardized Assessments District and state tests help us gauge growth over time.
Curriculum-Based Measures Teachers use regular check-ins and formative assessments.
Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) Goals are set, reviewed annually, and walked through with families.
Student Goal-Setting Encourages metacognition and ownership of learning.

🌟 Why It Matters

Our approach recognizes that learning is personal. When students feel seen in both their struggles and strengths, and have strategies that support success, they grow academically—and as well-rounded individuals.

By combining differentiation, small-group instruction, co-teaching strategies, and strength-based learning, Beattie’s Academic Support program ensures every student can climb higher, confidently and capable.
