🏃‍♂️ Get Up & Go – After-School Running Club

Contact: Mr. Page to learn more or help out!

What Is It?

Get Up & Go is Beattie’s welcoming after-school running club—open to all students interested in moving, connecting, and having fun. The group meets every Tuesday mornings, either outside or in the gym, depending on weather. [Turn to the office or Mr. Page for parent permission slips.]

Why Join?

  • Health & Well‑being: Running promotes cardiovascular fitness, supports healthy growth, helps regulate stress, and boosts emotional well-being.
  • Focus & Energy: Physical activity can “pump up” the brain—students often return more alert and ready to learn.
  • Team & Confidence: Kids build social skills, self-esteem, and resilience while working in a supportive, team-oriented setting.
  • Inclusivity: Our club welcomes every student and sets everyone up for success, regardless of running background.

How It Works

  • When: Every Tuesday, weather permitting, watch for the start and end dates!
  • Where: Outdoors at Beattie Park or in the gym
  • Who: All Beattie students—with parent permission
  • Requirements: Bring proper athletic gear and an approved permission slip

Participation Details

  • Structured yet Flexible: Activities may include warm-ups, distance running, fun races, and cooldown stretches.
  • Mileage Goals: Students track progress throughout the season, earning recognition for milestones—like a “50‑mile club.”
  • Safe & Supportive: Younger students are assisted by adults; older students are encouraged to lead and support their peers.

A Club That Means More

As noted by the "Kids Run Club" model, these programs set kids up for lifelong healthy habits, increased confidence, and often encourage further sports participation.
