Beattie Elementary Guidelines for Homeworkhomework

Homework contributes toward building responsibility and study habits, and is an opportunity to reinforce skills and new learning. It is the intention of our staff to assign relevant, challenging and meaningful homework that reinforces what is learned in the classroom. Homework also helps keep parents informed about what is being taught in school. Homework assignments are created based upon the intended purpose of the teacher.

Types of homework assignments include:

·      Practice of material taught in class

·      Preparation for discussion or activities that will occur in the classroom

·      Extension assignments to transfer skills or concepts to new situations

·      Creative activities to integrate the many different skills taught for a specific response or product
