Welcome to the Beattie Media Center! Our Library is at the center of the school, supporting and enriching curriculum by providing access to technology and information for students, staff and parents!
Our library visits center around INQUIRY, INNOVATION, and CREATION! Classes come to the library every week or two weeks for book checkout and activities to increase their library literacy, love of reading, and develop their creative and critical thinking muscles!
Students can use computers to search for materials or work on projects, and access over 14,000 books including reference materials, nonfiction, fiction, and books for the beginning and emergent reader. We have a large selection of great picture books for reading aloud, reading together, or enjoying independently.

First Book Initiative
The Beattie First Book Initiative is a new program at our school that allows every student to select and own a new book of their choosing. Research indicates that book ownership significantly boosts reading achievement and student motivation to read, something vitally important as we struggle to make up the losses in literacy students have experienced as a result of COVID.
Our first First Book Initiative Day took place on February 12, 2024 on the first day of our Scholastic Book Fair. All 257 students in our school were able to pick out a brand new book of their choosing, thanks to the help of our generous donors:
