About Me
I was born in California but spent much of my early childhood in Texas. I returned to California in the 5th grade, and remained there for middle and high school, and my years in college. I have lived in Colorado for the past 21 years, and call Fort Collins my home.
Professional Background/Education/Experience:

This is my sixth year at Beattie! I was in the Thompson School District in Loveland prior to coming to the Poudre School District. In Thompson, I was fortunate to serve as principal at Berthoud Elementary, and then at Cottonwood Plains. I have been a principal for the past seventeen years. Before my first principalship, I was a School Community Facilitator at Meeker Elementary in Greeley-Evans District 6. I wore many hats in this role, and taught, supported students, families, and staff, and performed the duties of an assistant principal. I began my career in education over twenty-five years ago, starting as a district psychologist responsible for supporting the students in nine elementary schools across a small school district in Southern California. I currently hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree, principal licensure, and membership with various professional organizations both in our state and nationally. I have had many proud moments in my career that are the result of working together as a strong school team. I have been recognized as Principal of the Year, and one of three finalists for the National Distinguished Principal award for Colorado.

What I love about working at Beattie:

Beattie is a special school, and I am pleased to be a part of it. The staff is outstanding, and committed to kids. The level of collaboration is high, and the teachers within each unit view all of the students as their own. Our parents are supportive and are truly our partners in educating their children. The best part about Beattie is our students! They are curious and interested, and show effort each day to match our expectations for their behavior and ahievement. They enjoy the relationships they have with the adults that care for them each day.

Personal Interests/Hobbies:

Family is important to me. Before my two sons moved out, having dinner together each night was a priority and allowed us to connect and review the events of each day. Now we try to get together each weekend since they both live locally. My wife and I enjoy traveling, and we've had the chance to visit Africa, Italy, South America, British Virgin Islands, Madagascar, and France. We also enjoy camping, and finding new things to do in our local area. I am a recent grandparent and am enjoying this new responsibility.
