This marks my 19th year as a licensed teacher practicing in the state of Colorado. This is my third year at Beattie.
I received a Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University. I went on to the University of Northern Colorado for a Master's in Special Education. Six years later, I earned a Master's level endorsement in Special Education for Early Childhood. I have taught from the Highschool level, all the way down to birth!
I am enjoying getting to know all the Beattie students, staff and families in my second year. I am thankful to be a part of a 3-class Early Childhood team.
Early Childhood is where my passions lie. My favorite things about Early Childhood is getting messy with exploratory learning, letting the children lead the learning, and partnering with parents in celebrating children's' successes.
"Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child's soul." ~Friedrich Froebel~
"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings." ~Hodding Carter

About My Classroom:
I teach in a Integrated Early Childhood Classroom. I have students 2.5 to 5 years of age. There are 16 students in the morning and 16 students in the afternoon class.
We use the curricula:
Little Teasures ( Literacy) ~ connceted with the K-5 Treasures Curriculum
Handwriting Without Tears (Writing)
Second Step (Social Emotional Development)
I integrate the curriculum into small group, large group, and play-based center activities and instruction. I modify for individual needs and developmental levels.
My husband and I have two beautiful children and enjoy running, backpacking, camping, and hiking together with our two doggies. We are privileged to be able to "play" in the beautiful Colorado outdoors! I am a tea lover and love fishing with my son. I enjoy trying new recipes, spending time with girlfriends, crafting with my daughter and reading nonsense romance books.
